KTEMSACADEMY

KenTenn EMS is licensed through the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services (KBEMS) as a Level III Training and Educational Institute (TEI) and serves as an American Heart Association (AHA) authorized Training Site. The Academy provides Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) initial training courses, continuing education classes, as well as CPR Training. Students of the Academy can expect to learn from high-quality instructors that boast years of experience in a variety of EMS environments. Classes offered utilize new technology and superior training equipment to participate in lifelike scenarios that better prepare them for their future roles they will play in their communities.

EMT Basic

The EMT Basic Program provides instruction in delivering proper emergency care to the sick and injured in a pre-hospital setting. The overall goals are to save lives, reduce complications, and combine effective interpersonal communication with medical knowledge and skills for every patient. Basic Life Support (BLS) procedures are introduced in accordance with the National Scope of Practice. The course spans approximately 20 weeks for a total of 160 hours of instruction.

EMT Advanced

The Advanced EMT Program consists of classroom (didactic), skills lab, clinical (hospital observation) and field (ambulance observation) components. Students will develop more sophisticated emergency treatment abilities including assessment skills, advanced airway techniques and medication administration. The course spans approximately 20 weeks for a total of 160 hours of instruction.

The Spring 2024 semester begins January 8, 2024 and ends with Graduation Dinner on May 6, 2024.

 

Upon course completion, students of an EMT Program conducted by KTEMS Academy are eligible to participate in the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) practical skills and exam. NREMT and Licensure fees are NOT included in the cost of the programs and are the responsibility of the student. RN-EMT Program

The Pre-Hospital Care (EMT) for Nurses is a rigorous one-week course designed to equip the Registered Nurse (RN) with the knowledge and skills to deliver exceptional and compassionate emergency care in out-of-hospital settings. This course builds on the existing knowledge of patient care in the clinical environment and prepares the student for prehospital assessments of medical conditions and traumatic injuries, as well as advanced airway techniques and basic medication administration.

CPR Training

Having trained bystanders in the event of cardiac arrest is crucial to patient survival. As an American Heart Association authorized training center, we offer a variety of courses to meet the needs of individuals, organizations, and businesses. Course fees listed below are based on a minimum of five students where classes are held at locations within the service area. KenTenn EMS Members receive a discount on all CPR programs. For smaller or larger class sizes, or locations outside of the service area, please contact us for pricing.

EMT's must attend first two days, Advanced EMT's the first three days, and Paramedic's attend all four days. Included in hours, you will obtain your BLS, ACLS & PALS. Class size will be limited. First Responder Program

Are you a resident of Fulton County, KY or South Fulton, TN with an EMT certification? The service is striving to build the First Responder Program in an effort to provide better care to our service communities.

 

When call volume is high and service requests of serious nature demand quick attention, we need access to trained medical personnel who can arrive on scene quickly. First Responders will also be utilized for sporting and special events. If you have an interest in serving the KenTenn community as a First Responder, please contact us.
